This article discusses a study where 37 adults were paired up with 37 children to see how the adults' eating habits affected the children's eating habits. The results of this study show that when adults eat healthier children also eat healthier. More specifically the results show that children ate more fruits and vegetables, the number of days children ate meals with their family increased, and lastly the amount of takeout food children were eating decreased. Overall, by the end of the study it was seen that both children and adults showed an increase in healthy eating behaviors for both the children and the adults.
This is beneficial for my research because it shows the huge impact that adults have in the lives of children. It shows that the eating behaviors that children display are directly linked to the adults in their lives, it shows that the behavior that these obese and overweight children have is learned. Since adults made better food decisions during this study the children were able to pick up on their behavior which the results show had a positive impact on the kids. Furthermore, the ability to make good food choices is learned and if children aren’t educated when it comes to making healthy food choices that could lead to them developing unhealthy eating food habits which will be harder to reverse in adulthood.

This article discusses how obesity in children is a growing problem in America. They discuss how Obese and overweight children are likely to stay obese once they reach adulthood. Moreover, there are alot of negative side effects such as negatively affecting their physical health, their social and emotional well-being, and self esteem. It also makes their performance worse academically and it leads to a lower quality of life for kids. Moreover, they mention that the reason most kids are obese/overweight is because they have a high calorie intake, increase in portion size in food, and steady decline in physical activity.
This article is beneficial for my research question because it provides evidence of the negative effects of being obese which heavily impacts children’s lives. They also mention possible causes for why children are obese/overweight which I could use in my essay. This also informed me of the fact that kids portion sizes are getting bigger which is a problem that kids aren’t very aware of since these bigger portions would be normal to them. I believe this will help prove that it is the adults responsibility to ensure that children are being fed properly.

This article discusses a study in which college students ages 18 to 24 were asked about their knowledge on the guidelines to live a healthy lifestyle, such as physical education and nutrition recommendations. Out of the 21 students who took part in this study, 26.85% of them could tell you what the recommendation for physical activity is. 91.5% of Students knew that there were nutrition recommendations however, only 23.9% of them could tell you what they were specifically. One of the key takeaways from this study is that there is a lack of knowledge about physical activity and nutrition recommendations and seeing as the majority of participants were categorized as overweight or obese educating people on these guidelines is essential to combating obesity.
This article is relevant to my research question because when we discuss who is to blame for obesity in the United States we need to first establish what people already know about the issue of obesity. According to the study a lot of people are very unaware of the things their body needs to be healthy. This article proves that a lot of people make it to adulthood without the proper education on nutrition which is needed to make healthy decisions and as a result people (like the participants of this study) are obese or overweight later in life. This research also ties into another article I read “Parents and Teachers as Role Models for Healthy Behaviors in Preschoolers.” which reiterates how important it is for young people to educate themselves on nutrition.
